What’s Typically Included in a Wedding Photography Package?
Packages vary from photographer to photographer, but most Irish wedding photography packages include:
- Pre-wedding consultation Getting to know you, understanding your plans, and building a timeline
- Full-day coverage Usually 8–12 hours, from bridal prep through to the first dance or beyond
- Edited digital images A curated gallery of fully edited, high-resolution photos (typically 400–800 images)
- Online gallery A private gallery for downloading and sharing with family and friends
- Travel within Ireland Most photographers include travel, though some charge extra for venues outside their home county

Several factors influence what a wedding photographer in Ireland charges:
Experience and Demand
A photographer who has shot 200+ weddings and is booked a year in advance will naturally charge more than someone starting out. You’re paying for their ability to handle any situation, bad weather, tight timelines, tricky lighting, without missing a beat.
Style and Editing
Different styles require different skills and post-processing time. Documentary wedding photography, the candid, unposed style, requires a photographer who can anticipate moments and react quickly. The editing process is also significant: colour grading, culling hundreds of images, and delivering a cohesive gallery takes time.
Hours of Coverage
Sounds obvious but a photographer covering 6 hours will charge less than one covering 12. Think about which moments matter most to you, do you want coverage from getting ready all the way through to the late-night dancing or do you only need the ceremony and reception covered?
Location and Travel
Most photographers based in Dublin or other cities include reasonable travel. For destination weddings in more remote parts of Ireland, think West Cork, Connemara, or Donegal, there may be additional travel or accommodation costs.
Deliverables
Albums, prints, and premium packaging all add to the cost. A beautifully hand-crafted wedding album can cost €500–€1,000+ on its own, or you can get a more generic version for €100-€200 (no shade to the generic albums, we have one for our own wedding!)
Is It Worth Investing in a Good Wedding Photographer?
Not that we are biased or anything but yes absolutely it is worth it! The photos are an appreciating asset, as time goes on you’ll usually find you get even more joy from them compared to when you first receive them (not that you won’t love them at first sight!).
That doesn’t mean you need to spend a fortune. There are plenty of excellent wedding photographers in Ireland, we like to think we are included in that list but that’s for you to decide. Ideally you want to find not only a photographer that matches your style but also someone you can have a bit of fun with on the day.
How to Budget for Wedding Photography
A few practical tips:
- Allocate 10–15% of your total wedding budget to photography, this is a common guideline used by wedding planners in Ireland
- Book early Popular photographers book out 12-18 months in advance, especially for summer dates
- Ask about payment plans, Many photographers (myself included) offer flexible payment options to spread the cost
- Be upfront about your budget A good photographer will work with you to find the right package

- How many edited images will you receive?
